Walter Joe Ziegler of Channing, TX, passed away on October 27, 2021, at the age of 36. He was born on July 23, 1985, in Dumas, Texas to Tammy Owens and Jesse Ziegler. He grew up on the Smith and Griffin ranches in the Texas Panhandle and has been a Cowboy all of his life. He married Larrisa Payne, of Quitaque, on April 21, 2007. Three years later, his daughter and joy of his life, Reiny Layne Ziegler was born.

He took pride in being a cowboy and it was an honor to be his next man. He worked on numerous ranches throughout Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona including JA, RO, Pitch Forks, LIT, Clabber Hill, XL, Bells, Turkey Tracks, LX, Taylor, and recently the Rim Rock and Sneed-Pool ranches. He was passionate about teaching younger generations to carry on the cowboy lifestyle and its traditions.

He loved long phone calls and conversations around the fire with his many friends. Walter Joe was loyal to and protective of the people he loved.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Guy and Adeline Ziegler, his maternal grandparents, David Turner and Patricia McLain, and his aunt, Michaela Wyatt.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Larrisa Ziegler, and their daughter, Reiny. His father Jesse Ziegler of Channing, Texas, his mother Tammy Owens, her husband Max and his brother Tommy of Stinnett, Texas. His sister Jamie Franks and her husband Jimmy of Borger, Texas, and many other family members.

He was dearly loved by his cowboy family.

Private family services will be held.

  2. I’m glad you were apart of our family we all loved you very much. I know we did t see each other much but just know we thought the world of you. You were a great Man/ loving husband and daddy. You will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. Till we meet again.

  3. Life will be less without you around. You were always so friendly and caring toward Tom and me. We both enjoyed seeing you and your sweet family at the cowboy things!. Say Hi to Tom up there in Heaven and tell him life is less without him in it too. ❤️🤗
