Alma Ruth Conn, 85, of Vega, TX passed away on June 26, 2021.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Amarillo, TX on Thursday, July 1, 2021. Services will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 2, 2021, at First Baptist Church in Vega with Brian Hevrin officiating. Private burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery in Vega. Arrangements are made by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Ruth was born in Deaf Smith County, TX on December 19, 1935, to George and Jessie Larson, only a quarter of a mile from where she passed away.

Ruth had worked for the Vega ISD for 10 years in the custodian department. She volunteered at Kings Manor for several years in Hereford. She loved going to garage sales.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, George and Jessie Larson; husband, Wilburn Quinton Conn; grandson, Jacob Dan Cassetty; and sisters, Lucille Brorman and Jean Gilter.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Loretta Conn of Bakersfield, CA, and Judy Ellen Cassetty and husband Dan of Bushland, TX; two sons, William “Bill” Sterling Conn and wife Cindy of Jefferson, OR, and Gregory Stephen Conn and wife Karen of Vega, TX; grandchildren, Jennifer Ruthann Hickman, Carrie Marie Certuche, Matthew Lee Cassetty, Brandon Conn, Brittnay Conn, Tina Conn, Jessica Crawford, and Jef Conn; and eight great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Milburn-Price Culture Museum, P.O. Box 377, Vega, TX 79092 and Jacob Cassetty Memorial Music Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 60, Bushland, TX 79012.

  2. She was such a precious person. Her passing has left a very big void in our community. She was a blessing: a kind and calm presence. She is greatly missed. Praying for God’s comfort for all her sweet family.
