Barbara Jean Potter Kerbo, 80, of Amarillo, TX died July 24, 2020.

Barbara was born January 11, 1940 in Tulia Texas where she grew up and graduated from Tulia High School in 1958.

After graduation she attended West Texas State University then decided to attend Cosmetology School in Amarillo where she met and married Cecil Kerbo.

After Cosmetology school they moved to Tulia where they worked and started their family.  Barbara went back to WT where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and received her Teaching certificate in 1972.  She taught in Tulia and Pampa school systems for a combined 23 years.  She retired from teaching in 2002.

Barbara, Mrs. Kerbo, Momma, Meme were the names that she went by.  She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Gardening, reading, and cooking, especially baking sweets for her family. Dancing with her husband Cecil was one of her lifelong loves and they were good and fun to watch. One of her favorite things as a mother and grandmother was to watch her children and grandchildren in their sports, she did everything to never miss a game.

Barbara went to be with the Lord on July 24, 2020. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ina Lillian Potter, father, Jesse Richard Potter, and her brother, Richard Wayne Potter.

Survivors include husband Cecil Kerbo of the home, son Chris Kerbo and wife Sami, daughter Jan Moser and husband Kurt, son Kent Kerbo and wife Misty, son Kirk Kerbo and wife Madella all of Amarillo. Grandchildren include Andrea Moser Oklahoma City Oklahoma, Arron Kerbo Leavenworth Kansas, Tori Meeks Canyon Texas, Shelby Carrillo Friona Texas, Sierra Moser Orlando Florida, Kirsten Gray Canyon Texas, Kamber Kerbo, Chance Kerbo, Mollie Kerbo Amarillo Texas and 6 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be Wednesday at 10 am at the chapel at Boxwell Brothers 2800 Paramount Blvd. Amarillo Tx, burial at Rosehill Cemetery Tulia following.

Visitation will be from 6-7pm Tuesday, July 28 at Boxwell Brothers.

Receiving friends and family at Jan’s house: 7013 Sunburst Amarillo Texas.

Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

I will not be able to attend her services but thoughts and prayers are with Cecil and family. Barb and Cecil fought over who was going to cut my long hair when they were in school together.
