Services will be at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at 10:00 a.m.  For those who would like to participate, a Rosary Service will be held at 9:15 a.m., Saturday, March 12, 2022, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Bernadette (Bea) was born on February 5, 1947, in Troy, New York.  After having their second child in New York, the Sweatt family relocated to Texas, where they eventually ended up in Olton, Texas, with their four children.  After graduating from high school, Bea moved to Amarillo where she attended Saint Anthony’s School of Nursing and became an R.N.  During this time, she met the love of her life, Paul Teichmann, and they soon married and began their family.  They had two sons, Paul Jr. and Philip, who were their shining stars.

Tragically, they lost Philip to a drunk driver in 1985 when he was 13.  At that point, the couple became heavily involved in M.A.D.D. and did victim impact statements to DUI offenders.  Bea’s nursing career spanned many years, with her specialty being psychiatry and later home health.  Bea and Paul loved to travel and enjoyed time with their many friends.  She belonged to the Red Hat Club and arts and crafts clubs.  Reading was her passion, and she was particularly fond of history.

Bea was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul, and her son Philip, as well as her brother Greg, and her parents.

Survivors include her son Paul Jr., her brother Mike, her sister Deborah, and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Saint Jude Children’s Hospital.

  1. Paul and Bernadette were my godparents. They hold a special place in my heart. I am glad they are reunited in peace with the Faithful Departed.

  2. David and I were so sorry we were unable to attend Bea’s service. Unfortunately, we did not see the date or time until late Saturday afternoon. We adored Bea and loved listening to her stories . Bea welcomed me with open arms into her world and family. We enjoyed eating out with them in Amarillo. I feel we shared a special kinship together. We loved her wit, her humor and her love of family. I know her beloved Paul and Phillip welcomed her with open arms. RIP, sweet one. You will be forever remembered and loved. Love, David and Stephanie

  4. She and her husband Paul were very active @ St Hyacinth’s where Bea was a “Sunday School” teacher. They were Good Folks!
