Demetrio Gutierrez, 67, of Amarillo, TX died December 2, 2020.

Private family services will be held.

Demetrio was born in Fort Sumner, NM on May 23, 1953, to Rebecca Rosales and Gilbert Gutierrez. He moved to Plainview, TX when he was a child. He worked for Cargill in Quality Control for 29 years. After he retired, he moved to Amarillo, TX.

Demetrio married Delores on December 1, 1971. He was known for his clever sense of humor, delicious popcorn and cookouts, and love for the Lord. His friends knew him as Dee and family knew him as Meme. Demetrio enjoyed fishing with his grandsons and dancing with his granddaughters.

Survivors include his wife, Delores Gutierrez, of the home; children, Gilbert and wife Stephanie Gutierrez, of Canyon, TX, Lori Flores, of Savoy, TX, Jeff and wife Lisa Bishop, of Amarillo, TX; and grandchildren, Larissa Flores, of Savoy, TX, Gabi Bishop, of Amarillo, TX, Vanessa Flores, of Savoy, TX, Cal Bishop, of Amarillo, TX, Lia Gutierrez, of Canyon, TX, Kamrin Gutierrez, of Canyon, TX, and Aiden Guiterrez, of Canyon, TX.

  1. Delorise, my name is Ray Johnson we et at baseball when my grandson Talon Jones and Aden played ball together. We called him grandpa honey. He would always have candy for my granddaughter Harper. When she was a baby you would set and hold her and sing to Those were good times. You and your family will be in my prayers. We love youal.   3. Meme was a selfless person kind in every way possible. He was always willing to help. I know when we would ask for help no matter how big or small he was helping, and before you knew it he had it done. We will miss your phone calls with constant conversation, endless laughs, jokes or with a new story. What we once enjoyed we can never loose all that we loved in him becomes apart of us. Wishing our family peace and courage to bring comfort to face the days ahead. We are always here for you.

  4. There is a special angel in heaven. Meme your stories, smiles ,hugs and all the laughs will be deeply missed. During a time we all loose a loved one it seems like no words can help elevate the pain that comes with it. Everything you miss and loved about meme will be found in your heart. My heart aches with you in this sad time prayers for my Gutierrez family. Love you guys!

  6. Our love for Meme was immense, he always made an effort to visit our family in Abernathy. Even after we moved to Pennsylvania he made an effort to call. Thank you for you beautiful light. We pray for your family because you will be so missed. Your spirit and legacy of love lives on in your children and grandchildren. Speak of him often and know you were blessed.
