Diana Marlene Stafford, age 84, of Amarillo, TX died on January 26, 2022.
Services for Diana Stafford will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, February 5, 2022, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 1601 Georgia St., Amarillo, Texas 79102. Private burial will be at Llano Cemetery. We invite friends to visit with the family after the memorial service at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, or BSA Hospice of the Southwest.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M., Friday, February 4, 2022, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd., Amarillo, Texas 79109.
Diana was born in Lubbock, TX on July 16, 1937, to Wesley and Edna Mae Smith. She attended Lubbock High School and graduated in 1955. She received her B.S. from Texas Tech University in 1959, and M.S. in Education from Texas Tech University in 1961. During her time at Texas Tech University, she was the President of Alpha Phi, and President of the Panhellenic Council. Â
Diana married Bobby Loyd Stafford, MD, in Lubbock, TX on December 19, 1958. Together they had three children, Greg, Gwen, and Cheryl.
Diana’s teaching career was spent as a secondary teacher in Lubbock Public Schools from 1959-1961, and Arlington Public Schools from 1961-1967.
Diana was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Amarillo, TX. Her hobbies included tennis, golf, skiing, and traveling.
Diana described herself as a professional volunteer. She raised a significant amount of money for our community. Her community involvement included but was not limited to:

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bobby Loyd Stafford, MD.
Diana is survived by her three children, Greg Stafford of Amarillo, TX, Gwen and husband, Kelly Neal of Amarillo, TX, and Cheryl Clinch of Frisco, TX; six grandchildren, Caden Edwards and wife Sydney, Lauren Clinch, Audrey Clinch, Carter Stafford, Jay Stafford, and Tom Stafford; and a sister, Wanda Lewis.
Diana always lead a life of service. She was kind and gracious to all she met. She will be missed.
My heart is heavy from losing this precious woman. My thoughts and prayers are for her family. At last she is free and can be with Bob. I loved this woman dearly.

Diana left such a mark on Amarillo. I served with Diana on the Medical Auxiliary Board soon after we moved to Amarillo. She was always seeking to improve life for others. She was a hard working volunteer. She had great leadership skills. I loved her laugh.
