Dr. Robert James Philips, age 74, of Amarillo, TX died Friday, February 26, 2021.

Services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at Briarwood Church in Pampa with Jameson Hancock officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Robert was born December 10, 1946, in Amarillo to Alvis and Reba Philips.  He graduated from Spearman High School and went on to West Texas State University for undergraduate studies and attended Kansas City University College of Osteopathic Medicine where he earned his medical degree.  Robert also served in the military; he was a captain in the U.S. Army.  He had a family practice in Pampa for many years and was known fondly as Dr. Bob.  He found much joy in taking care of his patients; he loved being a doctor.

Robert was a member of Briarwood Church in Pampa and served on the church board.  He had many interests including cars, motorcycles, and cooking and entertaining his friends and family.   He loved his lake house and garden in Howardwick.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Elaine Boyd and Martha Henderson.

Survivors include his wife Carol, and his children and grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to Briarwood Church and condolences sent to the family at PO Box 21214 Amarillo, Tx 79114.

  1. Our prayers are with the family. I just found out today about his passing. He was a good Dr to my boys and Gary and I. I was so shocked of his passing. The world lost a great Dr and Healer. He will be missed

  7. Never ready, neither prepared for the news about Dr. Bob. He was a wonderful relative, a most dependable doctor. We loved him so very much and appreciated him and his talents. He will be missed but “remembered”.
