Kevin Charles Smith, 61, aka Butch and Beef Butch, was born December 29, 1960, in Eunice, NM, to Billy Charles Smith and Sandra Jean Boyd.

He died on February 4, 2022, in Amarillo, TX. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Butch grew up on the north side of Amarillo attending Mesa Verde Elementary, Travis Junior High, and graduating from Palo Duro High School in 1979.

Butch was a truck driver by trade working for J Lee Milligan for many years.  He was a very private, easy-going man with a big heart.  He was a very dedicated worker and a loyal son, brother, and friend.

He spent his happiest days in Hollis, OK staying with his grandparents JT and Glen Boyd. “Beef”, as he was known to his friends, also spent many great times at Thompson Park with his longtime park friends.

Butch was preceded in death by his mother Sandra Simmons, his father Bill Smith, as well as his grandparents JT and Glen Boyd.

He is survived by his sister Debra Pate and her husband Virgil.  Brother Cody Simmons and wife Brenda. Niece Kara Kennedy and husband Chad.  Two nephews, Trent Walker and Aydin Simmons, and one great-niece Pate Kennedy.  All being from Amarillo.

  1. O Beef was a good o boy I knew him since High School. He love to laugh an have a good time he was a kind hearted person easy going man he took life just as it was handed to him. He was always a dedicated worker. I’ll will miss cutting up with him. Rest In Peace my friend you were a good one!!

  3. Memorial will be Saturday the 19th at Thomson park. We will be meeting in picnic area #30 at 2pm to celebrate his life. We welcome everyone that new and loved him.

  4. I remember Butch from childhood Thru high school we were great friends hung out a lot with him he had such a great heart would help anyone and always liked to kid around he will truly be missed was just thinking of him the day prayers to family & friends 😢

  5. I remember Butch childhood friend grade school Thur high school he was always easy going I haven’t saw Butch in years but was think of him from time to time Rest In Peace my dear friend you will be truly be missed

  7. I remember him when I was a child visiting his mom and step-dad in Amarillo. We had many laughs and giggles back then and that’s how I have always remembered him. I talked to him on the phone when he lost his stepdad, my uncle Dennis and gave him my sympathy and it was apparent he was the same fun loving person I always remembered him by. Rest in peace Butch, I know you will be sadly missed. I will always have my memories.. Condolences to Debra, Cody and family!
