Margie Louise Thurman, resident of Amarillo, TX, passed away on December 10, 2021, at the age of 77.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 8, 2022, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Margie was born in Memphis, TX on August 18, 1944, to Madge and Robert Jackson. Margie moved to Amarillo in 1971. Over the course of Margie’s life, she worked at Levi Strauss for 20 years and Crouse-Hinds for 17 years. However, the job she loved the most was being a Crossing Guard for 4 years on NE 6th and Buchanan St. She loved each kid like they were her own and was always so proud of how many kids she would have the opportunity to walk with each day. Margie was larger than life, with a smile and presence that would light up the room. She was loud and her laugh was ever louder. Margie will forever be the Dallas Cowboys #1 fan! She was feisty and stubborn to say the least. Margie had a great love for Jesus and always prayed for her friends and family. She would do anything for anyone, especially her family because she loved them unconditionally. Margie will be greatly missed by those who had the honor of knowing and loving her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; three sisters; and one granddaughter.

She is survived by her three children, Donna Penning, Kathy Oakley, and Lynn Thurman, all from Amarillo, TX; one sister, Mary Stinson of Newcastle, OK; six grandchildren, Brandon and Debbie Oakley, Jerry and Jenea Oakley, Michael and Shontelle Owens, Brandie and James Brooks, and Crystal Castleberry, all from Amarillo, TX, and Robert and Barbara Oakley, of Virginia; and her precious twenty-two great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren with one on-the-way.

This isn’t a goodbye but a see you later.  As Margie would say, “Go Cowboys!”
