Nannette Marie Burleson Evans, 54, of Amarillo, TX died Friday, January 28, 2022.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 4, 2022, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Amarillo.

Nannette was born on November 7, 1967, in Amarillo, TX to Thomas Burleson and Patricia Burleson.  She graduated from Canyon High School in 1986. During high school, she fell in love with theater and acted in several high school productions.  After graduating, she took theater classes at Amarillo College and performed in plays there and at The Amarillo Little Theater.

In 1990, she became a mother and devoted herself to caring for her growing family. Hunter, Elizabeth, and Landry were her greatest joy and not only her children but her friends.

While working as a bank teller, she met the love of her life, David Evans. They were married in September 2009. For 12 years, they lived happily ever after.

Nannette was an avid football fan, which she said started when her father held her as a baby while watching games on Sunday. They rooted for the Dallas Cowboys and even attended a Thanksgiving Day game together. As a little girl, she thought if she twirled around in a specific dress until she got dizzy and fell down, they would win. She was a diehard Cowboys fan until Jerry Jones bought the team and fired Tom Landry. She was thrilled when Houston received a new franchise, and she once again had a Texas team to root for.

Two of her favorite hobbies were reading and watching old movies. Her favorite book and movie were “Gone With the Wind,” and she had a houseful of GWTW memorabilia. And a dog named Scarlett.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Nannette is survived by her husband, Dave; daughter, Elizabeth Moore and husband Ryan of Amarillo; sons, Hunter Weber, and Landry McKenzie and girlfriend Elizabeth Cates of Amarillo; sisters, Cathy Miller of Corsicana, and Cheree Burleson of Waco; brother, Trey Burleson and wife Julie of Amarillo; niece, Addie Burleson of Stillwater, OK; and nephews, Richard Miller of Corsiciana, Jake Burleson of Weatherford, OK, and Max Burleson of Amarillo.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice or one of Nannette’s favorite charities: Amarillo Red Cross, Special Delivery Infant Adoption Agency, or Wounded Warrior Project.

  1. Landry was in my class at st Mary’s school. I remember he was such a delight to have in class & his mother, Nanette, was always a delight as well. I was pregnant with my first baby & she gave me many words of wisdom & funny stories about pregnancy, child birth, & child raising. Nannette & Landry will always hold a special place in my heart.

  5. Dad had told me of your health issues and I knew that you had so many bad days. I’m glad that you are beyond that now, but sad that you are gone from us. I will never forget the first time I saw you. You were about 5 or 6 and cute as a button. You kept that great smile. You seemed to be such a free spirit and I admired that. Tell Dad and Patricia hello for me. Rest in peace, sweet lady.
By the way, your friend Scott Hollabaugh is my cousin. Small world.
