Service will be at 2:00 pm, Monday, February 15, 2021, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, with Pastor Alfred Vargas officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

They started their family there and moved to Panhandle, TX in 1972 where they lived until moving to Amarillo, TX in 1987.

Rosa loved being a mother and raising her children alongside Paul, attending her children’s sporting events, volunteering at school, and later, when she became a grandmother, spending time with her grandchildren and spoiling them. Rosa was also very active in her church for decades, serving in the Sunday School ministry, as Mission’s secretary, Missionettes, and countless other ministries. Of all her relationships, the one she had with her Lord and Savior was the most important.

Rosa was preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters, Aurora Cantú Garza and Maria Elia Cantú.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Paul Escamilla, their daughter Suzzane Gomez, her husband Alvin, their sons Ryan and his wife, Keirsten, and Cristián; their daughter Anna Vasquez, her husband Steve, and their daughters Ashley VanDamme and her husband, Chris, Sara, and Victoria; their son Paul Ryan, his wife Dawn, and their sons Paul Darrell and Hunter, and their great-grandson Elijah Paul Escamilla.

  6. I have fond memories of having pizza on Sunday night with Rosa, Tia Cleo, Bessie and Sister Elida at either a Pizza Hut or Pizza Inn. We would go as a youth group and I would love to sit and talk with them about ‘anything.’ They were great advisors, mentors and just plain FUN ladies. They were beautiful inside and out. My heart was so sad and heartbroken for Rosa’s family when I heard the news. May our Father’s peace come rest upon you.

My condolences are with the Cantú Escamilla family and loved ones. May you be given joy in the reflections of the beauty of a life well lived.
