Deborah “Debbie” Tolene Wolf, age 70, of Amarillo, TX was embraced in Jesus’ arms on Saturday, September 11, 2021. Debbie was born on June 6, 1951, to Amy Joyce (Beauchamp) Burks and Joe C. Burks in Amarillo.

Services will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at 10:00 A.M., at Llano Cemetery for the graveside and then 11:00 A.M., at First Baptist Church Chapel Amarillo with Dr. Howard K. Batson officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Debbie was retired but enjoyed several careers over the years. She had an amazing work ethic and made positive impacts wherever she was. Debbie stayed very busy being a wife, mother, Nana, and sister. She relished the simple pleasures in life and especially spending time with family and friends. Debbie enjoyed shopping and buying little things for her grandkids. One of her passions was writing and journaling her love of Jesus. She loved listening to Christian music all the time. Debbie was a member of First Baptist Church of Amarillo.

Debbie’s beautiful smile would light up any room and she will be missed beyond words. Her love of history and her country came from her loving dad whom she always spoke of with admiration. He was a survivor of the Bataan Death March during WWII and survived three years as a POW. He passed away when Debbie was just 11. In honor of her father’s military service, Debbie obtained a BA in History from Wayland Baptist University in 1976 after graduating from Palo Duro High School in 1969.

She was preceded in death by her dad, Joe C. Burks, and mom, Amy Joyce Beauchamp Burks Nesbitt.

Debbie is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Gaylon; her daughter, Lori Horner and husband Todd; a bonus son, Kris Wolf and wife Reeca; her sister, Amy Hughes and husband Mark; and a brother, Joe Burks. Debbie’s pride and joy were her six grandchildren whom she would talk about all the time and loved so very much: Averie and Audrie Lane, Aiden and Ashton Horner, Bria Wolf, and Adriane Wolf Linnville and husband Tim; and two great-grandchildren Brady and Adylyn.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made in honor of her late nephew to the Branden Wayne Hughes Memorial Scholarship Fund, Amarillo High School, 4225 Danbury Drive, Amarillo 79109.
