Greggory Young Melugin, age 61, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on September 2, 2021, in Amarillo.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Messiah’s House, 6901 Bell St., with Pastor Jason Craft of Messiah’s House officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Gregg was born in Hereford, TX to Irene and Claude Melugin on December 10, 1959. He went to school at Hereford High School and was a volunteer firefighter for the Hereford Fire Department for many years. He married Rebecca McGilvary on October 30, 1982, at the First United Methodist Church in Hereford, TX. Collectively, he worked for Street Toyota for 20 years – in most recent years as the Used Car Inventory Manager.

Gregg followed Jesus for many years and modeled to his family the power of daily prayer and devotion to the Lord. Gregg had a larger-than-life personality. Everywhere he went, he made his presence known. His laugh was loud, and his hugs were strong. His dad jokes were always on point. He loved to make people laugh and had a way of making everyone feel special. The thing he loved the most was being “Pops” to his four grandchildren. He made sure that his grandchildren never went without candy or nice shoes. He loved his wife, Becky, for nearly 40 years and worked hard to provide for her and his family.

Gregg was preceded in death by his father, Claude Melugin; his mother, Irene Edwards Melugin; paternal grandparents, Claude Thomas Melugin Sr. and Mildred Virginia Melugin; and maternal grandparents, D.Y. Edwards and Edna Hunter Edwards.

Gregg is survived by his wife, Rebecca Melugin; son, Jordan and his wife Brenna of Canyon, TX and their children, Mazie, Reeve and Isla; son, Nathan and his wife Camille of Canyon, TX and their son, Forrest; sister, April and husband George Aleman; sister, Pam and husband Joe Hysinger; and sister, Claudia and husband Roger Bradley.

Honorary pallbearers are Joe Hysinger, George Aleman, Micki Ward, Reuben McGilvary, Randy Williams, Cory Dupriest, Don Weemes, and Chris Campbell.

Donations in memoriam may be given to Children’s Miracle Network in Amarillo, 500 S Taylor St. Suite 1060 223, Amarillo, TX 79101.

The family of Gregg Melugin wishes to extend their sincere thanks to all of the doctors, nurses, and team in the ICU at Baptist St. Anthony’s Hospital.
