Krista Kolette Gerber Hodges was a caring wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend. She left this world suddenly on January 16th, 2022, at age 55 in Amarillo, Texas. Her loving and Texas-sized heart left an impression on all who met her.

She was born to William (Billy) Gerber and Suzanne Gerber Gillispie on March 15th, 1966, in Canyon, Texas. Following her educational career, Krista dutifully served the 100th Judicial District Court of Texas as a Certified Shorthand Court Reporter for a committed 12 years. Her doting heart of compassion for the constituents that passed through her courtroom will be dearly missed by the Texas court.

Krista was loved by her family, community, and friends, and will be remembered for her kind heart and giving spirit. She enjoyed fashion, art and she was known for her sense of style. She loved to sing no matter where she was whether it was in the church choir or in the car.  She found comfort in cooking and providing for those around her.

She is preceded in death by her father William (Billy) Gerber of Dumas. Krista is survived by her mother Suzanne Gerber Gillispie and step-father Gladwin Gillispie of Amarillo, loving and devoted husband Vernon Carter Hodges of Amarillo, daughter Shayna Smith of Lubbock, daughter Samantha Smith of Amarillo, step-daughter Jamison Hodges of Albuquerque, step-daughter Lauren Hodges of Albuquerque, brother Michael Gerber and wife Carla Gerber of Oklahoma, sister Jennifer Robertson and husband Kirk Robertson of San Angelo, sister Lori Forbus of Wichita, Kansas, sister Jessica Klein and husband John Klein of Amarillo, sister-in-law Taryn Coffey and husband Craig Coffey of Tyler, nieces, nephews, and many other dear family and friends.

A memorial service is scheduled for 1:00 pm on January 21st, 2022, at Hillside Christian Church – Amarillo Northwest Campus, 600 Tascosa Rd Amarillo, Texas.  A brief informal Interment will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Umbarger, Texas at 3:30 PM. The cemetery is located just south of Highway 60 on Adkisson Road.
