Linda Louise Lamberth Hicks, wife of the late Billy Mac “Bill” Hicks was born on May 21, 1939. Linda passed away in the presence of her family on August 15, 2020, in Amarillo, Texas. Linda was born to G.A. “Jake” Lamberth Jr. and Maude Louise Clemens Lamberth in Amarillo, Texas.

Services will be at 1:30 P.M., Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at Hillside Christian Church with Greg Corona officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Amarillo.

She and Bill were high school sweethearts. They were crowned Homecoming King and Queen as well as Mr. and Miss Clarendon High School in 1957. After graduating from Clarendon High School in 1958, she continued her education with a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s in Education from West Texas State University. In an effort to foster her desire to help people better themselves, she became a teacher. Her career started with mathematics at Margaret Wills Elementary in Amarillo. She continued to grow as an educator and ended her career as the High School Principal in Tulia, Texas for 16 years, being one of the first women in that position in the State of Texas. She was well-respected by the many lives that she touched as a teacher and a principal. Her world revolved around family, students, friends, and church.

She is survived by a brother, Jay Lamberth and wife, Cathy of Tijeras, NM; Son – Jeff Hicks and wife, Beth of Mustang, OK; Daughter – Jennifer Woolsey of Amarillo, Texas; Three grandchildren – Josh Woolsey and wife, Teresa of Amarillo, Texas; Amber Woolsey of Amarillo, Texas; Emma Hicks of Mustang, OK. Great-grandchildren – James and Jazmin Woolsey of Amarillo, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bill Hicks; siblings Ronald Lamberth, Jimmy Lamberth, and Beth Lamberth; granddaughter, Eirin Hicks.

Linda lived a full and rewarding life that is worthy of emulation by many people.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Bill and Linda Hicks Memorial Fund (a scholarship fund) at Amarillo National Bank.

The family will receive family and friends at 7705 Crestline Dr.

  5. I have a lot of fond memories of Mrs. Hicks. Both Bill and Linda were my principals in elementary and high school in Tulia. I am glad they are together again. Prayers for the Hicks family.

  8. I really enjoyed working with Linda at Tulia HS. She was such an awesome principal. We became close friends. I was thrilled to see her last Christmas season. I will always appreciate her and remember her fondly. God Bless to her family.
