Margaret Mendez Longbine left her earthly body to be with Jesus on November 19, 2020.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 24, 2021, at 3 PM, at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Margaret was born to Thomas and Nicolasa Mendez on March 26, 1933, in Weir, TX.
In 1950, she met and married Doyce H. Longbine when she was just 16 years old. They were blessed with two children, Lena Carol and Bobby Doyce. While raising her children, she worked for Blackburn’s and the Amarillo Independent School District.
Her biggest joy in life was spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild. Her love language was to make amazing food to share. She had a gentle spirit that worked to see the positive side of any situation; she had a presence that was always calming and gentle. She loved to root for the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Nicolasa Mendez; her husband, Doyce Longbine; brothers, Ben Mendez, Narciso (Nar) Mendez, and Marcelino (Buck) Mendez; and sisters, Trinidad, Nellie, and Louise.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Stansbury; son, Bobby Longbine and wife Gloria; sisters, Teresa Mendez, Angie Hart, and Mary Ann Knause and husband George; four grandchildren, Jennifer Longbine, Giovanni Colapietro, Cheryl Weems and husband John, and James Kyle Longbine and wife Tiffany; six great-grandchildren, Marissa Longbine Madrid and husband Jordan, Hanna Longbine, Kinslee Owen, Kreed Longbine, Isabella Weems, and Tori Weems; and one great-great-grandchild, Bennett Madrid.
