Marguerite Ellen Cole, 97, of Hereford, TX passed away on March 8, 2022.

Burial will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 11, 2022, at West Park Cemetery in Hereford, TX. Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M., Friday, March 11, 2022, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd., Amarillo, TX.

Marguerite was born in Dimmitt, TX on July 25, 1924, to Gladys and Henry Mabe Mobley. She was raised with five siblings on a farm North of Dimmitt, TX. She graduated from Wayland Baptist College and West Texas College, where she went on to teach school in Springlake, TX and Dimmitt, TX.

Marguerite married Floyd Cole in Dimmitt, TX on August 16, 1947. They farmed in the Frio Community until Floyd’s death in 1978. Marguerite remained on the farm, where she and her son, Bill, continued developing the operation begun by Floyd and his father, Earl Cole.

She was a very active member in Frio Baptist Church, where she was involved in her lifelong passion for missions and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Cole; parents, Gladys and Henry Mabe Mobley; brothers, Austin Mobley, and Raymond Mobley; sisters, Nell Miller, and Dorothy Reno; and son-in-law, Herman Vinson.

She is survived by her children, Jana Vinson, of Pampa, TX, Bill Cole and wife Cindy, of Hereford, TX, Cheryl Ramey and husband George, of Oklahoma City, OK, and Beverly Paetzold and husband John, of Amarillo, TX; brother, Don Mobley and wife Judy, of Farmington, NM; eight grandchildren, Shelley Helfer, Kelley Simpson, Nathan Cole, Cason Cole, Kaci Curry, Kendal Ramey, Kensie Cowden, and Jeff Paetzold; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. – 6:30 P.M., Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.

  1. Very nice lady. I got aquatinted with Mrs. Cole when we were ‘Bigs in School’ volunteers at the Tierra Blanca school. You could tell she loved kids and they loved her.

  6. Marguerite was a great lady, so kind, and full of grace and love for others. She was so gracious to have me in her home when I would go to visit Cheryl. One of my fondest memories of Marguerite was when she called and asked if she could come by to get a recipe of mine. She was so sweet and we had the best time visiting. I loved her so much. It was such a blessing to see Marguerite whenever I would get back to Hereford. My love and prayers go out to you, Cheryl, Jana, Beverly and Bill and your families. God bless you all.

  7. Marguerite exemplified the ultimate Christ like life. My memory is flooded with the examples of her love and kindness for everyone she knew. What a blessing to have experienced the friendship of she and Floyd. My most sincere condolences to Bill and the entire Cole family.

  11. A beautiful lady who brought Granny Cole and Jana to our wedding 61 1/2 years ago furthering our connection to our Cole family. We cherish our visits as she was always so welcoming and warm. Truly a Proverbs 31 woman and I am blessed knowing her! May peace from Jesus hold you.

  14. I always recall Marguerite’s hospitality from our first meeting, in 1957. Not entirely in jest I can state that she substantially improved the overall quality of the Cole family when she married Floyd.

  16. I will always cherish the time I got to spend with her. She always made me feel welcome and part of the Cole family. She was the glue that held everyone together.
    I will surely miss her as I know everyone that knew her will also.

  18. What a remarkable woman Aunt Marguerite was. She was such an inspiration and never failed to send the most thoughtful hand written Christmas cards every year and remembered so many details about my family! Sending the deepest sympathy and love to all of you. She will be sorely missed.
