Philip Jon Corbin, Jr.

 

Philip Jon Corbin, Jr., the beloved 43-year-old son of Debra Saunders Corbin and Dr. Philip Jon Corbin passed away on Wednesday January 19, 2022, in Amarillo, Texas.

Philip was born in Houston, Texas, on August 23, 1978.

He leaves behind his parents, Debra Saunders Corbin and Dr. Philip Jon Corbin, both of Amarillo, Texas; three brothers, Patrick Jameson Corbin, Parker Jeremy Corbin, and Price Jay Corbin, all of Amarillo, Texas; his beloved French Bulldog, Bruiser; his uncle, Joe Saunders and wife Kay of Sewanee, Georgia; his cousins, Tiffany Saunders, Kelly Saunders Dompe and husband Tony, Kristin Saunders Bonner, Kimberly Saunders Haney and husband Roger, and Jamie Bonner; his good friends, Brandon Todd, and Derek and Macy Jefferson; and countless other friends.

Philip will be remembered forever by his art.

Philip attended St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, Austin Middle School, and graduated from Tascosa High School. He studied art at Amarillo College, West Texas A&M University, Austin Community College, and St. Edward’s University.

Philip was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mark and Gweneth Saunders, and Max and Anne Corbin; his uncles, Craig Corbin, and Mark Saunders, Jr. and wife Sherry Saunders; and his dog, Rocco.

Memorial services will be at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 26, 2022, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Reverend Kevin Deckard officiating. Burial services will be private in the Polk Street United Methodist Church Columbarium. A celebration of Philip’s life will follow the service from 3:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. at the Golden Light Cantina, 2906 SW 6th Ave.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Amarillo SPCA, 11901 S. Coulter Amarillo, TX 79119, Gracie’s Project, PO Box 2512 Amarillo Tx 79105, or any animal rescue of your choice.

  7. All of us at St. Andrew’s School are heartbroken. This news swept through our past student and faculty chain with heartbreaking remembrances last week. Philip was a sweet spirit and a joy to all who taught him and shared classes with him, Many of us remember his beautiful art and the joy which art brought to him.
