went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 1, 2021.

Steve was born on May 29, 1959, in Blytheville, Arkansas. His parents were Warlick and Bobbye Glenn Thomas.

Steve was a graduate of the Amarillo High School class of 1977. He then enrolled at Abilene Christian University on a football scholarship where he was awarded All- American Honorable Mention in 1980 and received his diploma in 1981

His career was spent building and remodeling homes in Amarillo and California.

He married Melinda Thomas on November 17, 1983, and from that marriage, three children were born. He is survived by his children Katie Cane, Jarrett Thomas, and wife Hannah, Austin Thomas, and his grandchildren Everly and Ashton Cane and Noah, Oliver, and Dylan Thomas all from California.

He is also survived by his father and stepmother Warlick and Jo Ann Thomas, his sister Kerri Thomas, his brother Allan Thomas, his stepsisters Sandy Copeland and Sharon Lear, and cousin Suzanne Phillips.

A memorial service will be held on January 16, 2022, in the Central Church of Christ chapel at 2 pm with a reception to follow.

Memorials are encouraged in Steve’s name to Christian Relief Fund 1501 West 58th, Amarillo, TX 79110

  1. We were so fortunate to spend a little time with Steve at the Cowboy game recently. Praying for comfort as the family goes through this time.

    We saw how you lovingly and patiently went through the ordeal with Steve in finding just the right heart for a son WITH a big heart! Just an example of the love we have for our children! We all miss Steve, but God had other plans for him. May God fill your hearts with peace. We love you deeply!

  3. Warlick and Joann we are so sorry for your loss. John and I are keeping you in our hearts and prayers, but we know Steve has been healed and is celebrating with B.G. in heaven. We love you. John and Beverly

      We loved Steve and we love you. You were the best parents from the beginning, through the health crisis and you continue to honor him. You continue to love him by loving his kids and grandkids. I know they are precious to you.
