Wanda Louise Wetsel

 

Wanda Louise Wetsel was born on July 17, 1927, to Ross and Alba Grantham in Wildorado, TX.

Graveside service will be 2:00 PM, Monday, October 25, 2021, at Memorial Park Cemetery, in Vega TX, with Jim Watkins, officiating.  Visitation will be 3:00- 5:00 PM, Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

She went to school in Wildorado and graduated from Canyon High School. Wanda married James Wetsel on April 14, 1946, in Wildorado TX.

Wanda was a homemaker and mom and was a big part of her kids for many years in 4-H and many of their school activities. She and her husband James were 4-H leaders and taught sewing, cooking, and livestock activities to many 4-H kids that are still outstanding members of the Oldham County community today. Wanda was selected Woman of the Year of Oldham County Home Demonstration Council in 1963.

Wanda later worked in the school cafeteria and retired and after the loss of her husband James she moved to Colorado Springs to be closer to her kids and sister. Wanda enjoyed many activities while living in Colorado among which was The Red Hat Society which was such an enjoyment for Wanda, Judy her daughter, and Deelia Copeland her sister. Wanda moved back to Texas in 2012 and settled in Amarillo close to all of her sweet family who she cherished so much.

Wanda was always a member of the Church of Christ in the communities where she lived.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband James William Wetsel, her son Larry Wayne Wetsel, and her mom and dad Ross and Alba Grantham.

She is survived by her daughter Judy Gayle and her husband Larry Mike Sugg of Amarillo, son Jimbo and wife Terri Wetsel of Cuchara, CO, grandchildren Mandy and husband Jeff Vastola of Jupiter, Fl, Angela and husband Doug Knight of Jupiter, Fl, Michael Sugg of Amarillo, Lauree Pacheco of Amarillo, 8 great-grandkids Joyce Jenna, Spencer, Jacob, Kassedy, Austin, Giavanna and Lucca, and 2 great-great-grandsons Aden and Jaxon.

  1. My second mom. I love this lady so much! She was such a wonderful and beautiful influence in my life. I was so glad when she and Judy and Mike moved back to Texas and into my life once more. My family is complete again. Much love, Jackye
