
Tresa Tafoya Whaley, 73, of Vega, TX, passed away on Oct. 28, 2021. Services will be at 1:00 pm, Monday, Nov. 1, 2021, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., Amarillo, TX, with burial to follow at Memorial Cemetery in Vega, TX.
Tresa was born in Eaton, CO, on Sep. 17, 1948, to Jose and Filomena Tafoya. She was married to the love of her life, Harry, for 54 years until his passing last year. Tresa was well known for her talents as a seamstress and spent several years proudly serving on the board of the Panhandle Regional Planning Commission.
Tresa was preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents, and brothers George, Epifanio, Manuel, Joe, and Jimmy Tafoya.
Survivors include her son, John Luke Whaley and wife Jan of Canyon, TX; daughter Joanna Simpson and husband Robert of Amarillo, TX; brothers Ted Tafoya of Lovington, NM, and Raymond Tafoya and wife Dora of Portales, NM; granddaughter Tosha Villegas and husband Chris of Amarillo, TX; and great-grandchildren Maddox and Nolan; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who she adored.

Tresa and Harry were such wonderful friends to my family. Tresa made me drapes for our home as a wedding gift.
