Lola Ben (Dunnam) Lawson was born, November 15, 1930.

She was the youngest child of William Andrew Dunnam and Bessie (Thorp) Dunnam. Her father was a true pioneer, born in 1877. He moved from Alabama, traveling in a horse drawn wagon, to South East New Mexico (now Hobbs, N.M.) to acquire land under The Homestead Act. Mom was born and raised on the 320-acre homestead. She was very proud of her heritage, the fact her parents scratched out a living on the dryland farm. They lived in a house her dad built, without indoor bathroom or electricity until she was in high school. Most of what they had they grew, raised, or made. She had very fond memories being raised on the farm and often shared stories with her children and grandchildren. She was a high school valedictorian. The first from her family to attend college. She graduated from Oklahoma University with a Pharmacy Degree. She met her soon to be husband Robert (Buck) Lawson at OU, in the pharmacy program. They both practiced pharmacy in Amarillo for many years. Lola was a career pharmacist; first at St. Anthony’s and later at the Osteopathic Hospital for many years, until her retirement. Lola was a lifelong member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church, later Hillside Christian Church. She enjoyed attending a Sunday school class called Berean Circle of Friends. After their class, they would meet and share a meal together. Lola loved her family very much and always put them first beyond her own needs or wants. She was always willing to lend a hand to whoever needed help. She loved cooking big meals and having everyone over.

She had four children; Debra (Debbie) Lee Lawson, Terry Jo (TJ) Lawson Glenn, Marvin Andrew Lawson, and Robert Ben Lawson.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert “Buck” Lawson, her daughter Debbie, and son Rob.

Lola is survived by her daughter TJ and husband James Glenn along with their sons James Michael and Jeffrey with his wife Sarah and children Aubrey, Tristen, and Saige; and by her son Andrew and wife Lori Lawson along with their children Candice and husband Bradley Shawhan and William (Drew) Lawson.
