Margie was born on March 15, 1939, in Houston, TX to Charles and Lucile Martin. She later lived in Oklahoma City where married Lloyd V. Stewart and they had a son, Lloyd Charles. Later she met Dale Teel and became a “2nd Mom” to his 2 daughters, Tricia, and Karin. Together they had Kevin and Kendra. They made their home in Amarillo and later Canyon. Finding herself on her own, she made her way to Stinnett Texas, and that became her much loved final hometown.
During her life she wore many hats… Having a home daycare, working in hospitals as an LVN, and retail stores. Later she found her calling as a traveling photographer for Wal-Mart. She met and photographed many of the same children year after year. She loved watching them grow into adults and having children of their own. She remained in touch with many of those kids. After semi-retiring she became a part-time door greeter, substitute teacher, and finally worked in the Home and Garden Center at Wal-Mart in Borger where she was known and loved by all. She had smiles and hugs for everyone who crossed her path and loved to put smiles on the faces of those she encountered each day.
She was a member of the Church of Christ, and her church homes were at Canyon Hills and later Borger.
Her favorite “job” was that of a Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lucille and Charlie Martin, former husband Dale Teel, daughter Kendra Diane Teel Sotelo and 2 grandchildren, Marcos Sotelo and Audrey Sotelo.
Survivors include her children, Lloyd Charles Stewart, Kevin Dale Teel, Tricia Teel Johnson and husband Steve, and Karin Teel Dyer and husband Mark and her much loved “other” daughters Tonya Stewart and Jessica Pitts. She was blessed with and is survived by her grandchildren, Sean Latta, Hope Weber, Alec Dyer, Shea Teel, Clay Teel, Rayemond Teel, Coby Stewart, Cory Stewart, Miguel Sotelo and Aaliyah Sotelo as well as 12 great-grandchildren. She was delighted recently to receive the news that another great grandchild is coming soon.
In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity or church in her memory.
Margie was the sweetest lady. I always enjoyed chatting with her in the gardening department at the Dumas Walmart! She will be missed!
