Martha Lee Babb, 92, passed away peacefully Monday, May 10, 2021.

Graveside services will be private.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

She was born September 25, 1928, in Amarillo, TX to Welcome Vanshaw and Tula E. Vanshaw.  Martha graduated from Amarillo High School, a long time Sandie, and the University of Colorado, where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority.

Martha was a life-long surgical nurse with Dr. Dudley Moore in Canyon, TX.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was a supporter of the Sisters of Prayer Town, who are part of the Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.

She was preceded in death by Jack Lloyd Crabtree; second husband, Pat L. Babb; and son, Mark Alan Crabtree.

Martha is survived by her two sons, Robert Crabtree, M.D., and Tom Crabtree, both of Amarillo, TX; a daughter, Tula and son-in-law, Archie Cox, of Austin, TX.  She is also survived by her granddaughter, Ellen Crabtree, of Houston, TX; and sister, Gaynor Guleke, of Amarillo, TX.

  1. Martha became a special woman to me during the Diocesan ACTS retreats and from then on at the parish and elsewhere. She will be missed (in the back row).
