Shirley Ann Powell Gaines, 66, of Amarillo, TX passed away on December 30, 2020.
Private family services will be held.
Shirley was born in Amarillo, TX on August 20, 1954, to Annetta Townsend and James Powell.
Shirley loved her family and friends with an agape love. If you called her in need, small or large, she was there without reservation.
Shirley was a loyal, fun, and loving person who thrived on keeping those in her presence laughing, full of joy, and shaking their heads over the humor that radiated from this beautiful soul. She was very solid in her faith and lived to make Heaven her eternal home. Her relationship with God was the most important and foremost in her life. She loved her church, Pentecostal Temple, and the leader, Pastor and Lady E.B. Demerson.
In our early adulthood, there were many happy events in our life. We celebrated our lives nearly every day. She was a wonderful cook; she could cook anything. We thank God for the time we shared as a family. We are going to miss her dearly.
Shirley will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband; mother, Annetta Haynes; sisters, Mattie Helen Hughes, and Pamela S. Haynes; and brothers, David Earl Brown, and Kenneth Ray Townsend.
Survivors include her sisters, Ventress Haynes Smith (Edward) of Federal Way, WA, Denetta Peters (Jimmy) of Tacoma, WA, and Perita Haynes of Amarillo, TX; and brother, Gary Brown, of Amarillo, TX.
