Virginia Margaret Hammett Easley

Virginia Margaret Hammett Easley, 97, of Dumas, went home to be with her Lord & Savior on Sunday, January 12, 2020.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Center Plains Cemetery in Cotton Center, Texas with Ty Horsford of Abernathy officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox.

Virginia was born on December 25, 1922 in Earth, Texas to John Wesley and Fannie Elizabeth Barrett.  She graduated from Cotton Center High School.  She married Harvey Hammett on March 9, 1946.  After his death, she married Harold Easley on July 5, 1980.   Virginia was a former manager of Sears Catalog Store in Hereford, Texas.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dumas.  She was respected and deeply loved by her family and all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; one son, Ed Wesley; four brothers; and five sisters.

Virginia is survived by one daughter, Linda Boggs of Dumas; one son, Gary Hammett and wife Jackie of Amarillo; one sister, Wanda Horsford and husband Ed of Hale Center, Texas; one sister-in-law, Glenda Barrett of Cotton Center, Texas; Three grandchildren, Dr. John Eric Boggs and wife Holli of Dumas, Warren Boggs Sr. and wife Amy of Amarillo, Lisa Morgan and husband Brady of Amarillo; and several great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be sent to Center Plains Cemetery In Care of Darryl Barrett, P.O. Box 295, Hale Center, Texas  79041, Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 923, Dumas, Texas  79029, or Memorial Nursing & Rehab, 224 E. 2nd st., Dumas, Texas  79029.

  2. Linda and family i am so sorry for your great loss. Your mom was such a beautiful lady, inside and outside as well. I know she will be greatly missed. What a Wonderful blessing that you had her here with you for so many precious years. I will be lifting you and your family up in prayer.
