Marcella Lanning Reynolds, 97, died Monday, January 27, 2020.

Services will be at 11:00 am, Friday, January 31, 2020, in St. John Lutheran Church, 207 S. Meredith Ave., Dumas, TX, with the Rev. Troy Scroggins officiating.  A private burial service for the family will be conducted prior to the church services.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox Ave.

Marcella was born on a farm near Sacred Heart, Minnesota on July 1, 1922 to Brador and Agnes Lanning.  Marcella was the second of five children.  She married Darrel Reynolds on November 1, 1947, at Redwood Falls, MN.  Darrel passed away nine days before their 66th wedding anniversary in 2013.  The couple had two children; Scott (Marietta) and Madrene (David) Talley.  Grandchildren include Michaela Reynolds, Tara (Kelly) Brown, Jeff Talley, and Kevin Talley.

Their great-grandchildren are Hayden, Molly and Kate Brown.

Marcella was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  In 1979, she was thrilled to win the Dogie Days pick-up.  Marcella enjoyed flower gardening and quilting, but she will be most remembered for her volunteer work.  She drove cancer patients to Amarillo for treatments, served meals to seniors for Meals on Wheels, greeted travelers, and worked each week at the Moore County Museum.  She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church and involved with popular Oktoberfest. One year she was even named Volunteer of the Year for Moore County.

Marcella was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darrel; a brother, Leroy Lanning; and a sister, Della Abbas.  Additional survivors include two sisters, Clarinda Erickson of Mesa, AZ and Ardis Danger of Mahtomedi, MN and many nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be directed to St. John Lutheran Church, 207 S. Meredith Ave., Dumas, TX 79029, or Christian Relief Fund, PO Box 19670, Amarillo, TX, 79114.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M., Thursday, January 30, 2020, at the funeral home, 500 N. Maddox, Dumas, TX.
