Dianne Rose Craig Monroe, 63, of Canyon, TX died on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at her home following an 8-year battle with cancer.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 19, 2021, at Hillside Christian Church West Campus (6100 S. Soncy, Amarillo) in the Chapel with Senior Pastor Tommy Politz officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Dianne was born on April 28, 1958, in Plainview, TX to Wood Burton and Bettie June Craig. She was raised on a farm North of Sunray, TX and lived in Sunray until moving to Canyon, TX in 2010. She married Steve Monroe in September of 1974 and they raised their three children in Sunray.
Dianne’s early regret was not having completed a college education which sparked her lifelong passion for learning. She was ever a student in her faith, in her work, and in personal growth. She worked in the banking industry for 33 years starting at Sunray State Bank in an entry level, clerical position and ended her career with her death at Happy State Bank as the Director of Loan Administration and a Senior Vice President. She worked in every position possible in-between those two roles and had a vast knowledge of banking, banking systems, personnel management, and systems management. She was well respected for her depth of knowledge in the industry and for her ability to lead others. What she lacked in formal education and degree, she more than compensated for in practical knowledge, wisdom, work ethic, and leadership.
Her life will be most notably remembered by the love she showed to her Savior, Jesus Christ, her family, her friends and anyone who needed her help. She was a dedicated follower of Jesus and loved to read the Bible and grow in knowledge and faith. Her love of Jesus spilled over to her love for friends, family, co-workers, and others in need. She had a passion to serve others through church, through her Lions Club, other civic organizations, and the good old fashioned West Texas hospitality she learned from her mother.
Dianne loved to travel and explore the world and experience new things with her friends and family. Notably, she loved her travel trips to Scotland, Alaska, the Caribbean Islands, and other States in the US. She loved sleeping through movies, following her children and grandchildren to various activities, jigsaw puzzles, board games, card games, reading, and working in her yard and garden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve, and her parents, Wood and Bettie Craig.
Survivors include her children and grandchildren: Ryan Monroe and wife Jennifer, of Canyon, TX and their two children – Madysen June and Jackson; Carroll Monroe and wife Terrie, of Amarillo, TX and their five children – Jaci, Austin, Grayson, Kennadi, and Emeri; and Sherylyn Monroe Yowell and husband Steve, of Tulsa, OK and their two children – Avery Dianne and Allison. She is also survived by three brothers, one sister, and their families.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Panhandle of Texas Lions Foundation or to the Panhandle Down Syndrome Guilde in her honor.
