Frankie “Sue” Kitchens, 78, passed away on September 16, 2021 at Hendrick Hospital in Abilene, TX of COVID complications.

Graveside services will be held at 3 PM, Monday, September 20, 2021 at Northlawn Memorial Gardens in Dumas , TX.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 500 N. Maddox.

Sue was born in Pampa Texas on December 11, 1942. A long time resident of Dumas, she had recently moved to Abilene to be near family.

Sue loved people with her whole heart and was a talented woman. She loved to paint and was an amazing artist. Sue’s roles included loving wife of a farmer, Mom, Meme, and friend. She wanted everyone to be happy and meant it when she addressed you as “Honey”, “Sweetie”, or “Darlin’”. During an energy shortage time when Christmas lights were discouraged, Sue arranged for her whole street to have Christmas candle luminaries to line the entire block. She so wanted to share the Christmas spirit with the children and her community. When her sons, Scott & Tim, and their friends became interested in BMX bicycle racing, she went to bat for them asking the community leaders to put in a BMX racetrack and it was built at her urging. Sue’s favorite Bible verse was John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” While she will be greatly missed, we celebrate her faith and are thankful to know of the heavenly reunions she is having today and that we too will have with her someday.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Sonny Kitchens; her parents, Henry Franklin Magerkurth and Opal Faye Magerkurth; her sister, Peggy Dillard; her son, Tim “Tye” Goddard; and her grandson, Houston Goddard.

She is survived by her sons, Scott Goddard of Abilene, TX and Joe Kitchens of Amarillo, TX; her granddaughter, Victoria Goddard; and her great-grandchildren, Kourtney and Phoenix.
