Lavoice Mae Meador Crites “Maw Maw”, 94, of Amarillo, TX died October 22, 2020.

Services will be at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, October 28, 2020, at Paramount Baptist Church, with Lance Herrington officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Lavoice was born on October 18, 1926, in Erick, OK to Fred and Lorena Meador. She lived in Dalhart, TX for many years and then moved to Amarillo. She graduated from Amarillo High School. She went on to attend West Texas State University and graduated in 1948 with multiple degrees. After graduation, she worked in the Registrar’s Office at WT where she would meet the love of her life, Charles W. Crites. They were married on September 2, 1950, in Amarillo, TX, and were married for 60 years. Charles and Lavoice had four children. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She stayed at home to raise her children until the mid-’70’s. She then began her career. She went to work for Energas, which then became Pioneer Natural Gas. She also worked for Mesa Petroleum, which she retired from twice.

Lavoice was a strong Christian woman. She was an active member of Paramount Baptist Church for many years. Lavoice loved her family and took great pride in everything that she did for them. She was always the hostess for all family gatherings. She started many life-long traditions that still live on to this day in the family.

Her loving and caring personality was always shining through even on her final days. She was always wanting to make sure her family and loved ones were doing okay!

A friend said she has the content, satisfied look of a life well-lived, and a job well done.

Lavoice never had a bad word to say about anyone. She lived a very prosperous life. Loved by so many people.

Lavoice was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in 2011; her parents, Fred and Lorena Meador; her three brothers, Calvin Meador, Robert Meador, and Jake Meador; and her grandparents, Robert and Amy McGough.

Survivors include her four children, Barry Crites and late wife JoAn, of Amarillo, TX, Mike Crites and wife Susan, of Pueblo, CO, Cindy Bellah, of Amarillo, TX, Alan Crites and wife Rani, of Amarillo, TX; seven grandchildren, Kari Trice and husband Jason, of Amarillo, TX, Nikki Henderson and husband Jonathan Sr., of Amarillo, TX, Mindi Fowler, of Amarillo, TX, Tanner Crites, of Pueblo, CO, Skyler Crites and wife Hannah, of Amarillo, TX, Trevor Crites, of Pueblo, CO, and Seth Crites, of Amarillo, TX; seventeen great-grandchildren, Keanan Milligan, Desiree Milligan, Jayda Milligan, Braylon Milligan, Jonathan Henderson Jr., Javari Henderson, Acacia Blocker, KJ Nash, Brixlynn Fowler, Jayci Trice, Jaksen Trice, Jantsen Trice, Jentry Trice, Charolette Crites, Brody Crites, Aspen Crites, and Rayden Crites; six great-great-grandchildren, Keailah Milligan, Keanan Milligan Jr., Aniah Parker, Logan Jackson Jr., Isabella Jackson, and Keali Milligan; three nephews, Keith Meador and wife Jan, Wade Meador Sr., and Chris Meador and wife Gay; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, and cousins; and life-long friends, Letty and June.

Lavoice will be deeply missed but her legacy will live on through her family that loved her dearly. Our beloved “Maw Maw”, Rest in Peace.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M.- 7:30 P.M., Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
