Makayla Jane Crockett— fondly also known as “Mackie J,” “Mak,” “Big Mac,” “Princess Kitten Meow,” (and many other silly nicknames)—was born in Amarillo, Texas on March 29, 2000, graduated from Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, and peacefully left her short 21 years of earthly life on January 15, 2022, with her sister, Allie, present along with two friends who love her dearly.
“Big Mac” —as her big sister lovingly calls her—could easily make you smile. Anyone who met her could not help but to instantly fall in love with her bold, bubbly, and bright personality. Makayla was known for (what her Nana called) “a famous smile.” She loved to laugh and brought light to every room and situation she entered.
Sweet “Mackie J” radiated overwhelming love to all who encountered her presence. She was a unique combination of strength and fragility…an authentic combination unlike any other. Her kindness, care, and uplifting spirit left indelible marks on all who knew her—her absence leaves a void for all who love her.
Makayla is survived by her sister, Allie Crockett, and nephew, Michael Ray Leroy; mother, Brandi Crockett; two younger siblings and their adoptive families; cousin (and best friend) Katelyn Williams; cousins Courtney Newton, Christopher Newton, and Taylor Williams; uncles, Daymond Williams, Cody Crockett, and Charlie Newton; aunts, Connie Adlong and Amy Williams; and little cousins Joshua Trujillo, Kyleighann Trujillo, and Stephen Strader; close family friend, Stormy Young; father, Michael Frye, and many other friends and family members. She is proceeded in death by her beloved Nana (great-grandma Verna Marie Williams—who loved and raised Makayla from birth); great grandfather, Daymond Leroy Williams; grandma Debra Ann Crockett and great-great-grandma, Iva Jane Files.
Family and friends will celebrate Makayla’s life on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 1 pm, at the Chapel at Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch with service being led by the loved and esteemed Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch chaplain, Mike Wilhelm with the assistance of Bond Pittman, who Makayla also loved.
