Charlene Bertha Brown 69 of Amarillo went to be with Jesus on February 10, 2021, after losing a short battle with cancer.
Charlene was born in Amarillo to the late Elmer Jackson and Mary Izell Nichols on December 28, 1951.
Charlene had a zest for life even though she lived the majority of her life hearing impaired, then at the age of 25, she was told that she was legally blind. Charlene would slowly lose what was left of her sight throughout her life, these difficulties didn’t keep her down. Charlene, along with her daughters Anna and Lois were involved in the deaf community at the First Baptist Church in Amarillo.
The family thanks the Dumas Noon Lions Club in Dumas, Texas who sponsored not one but two Leader Dogs (Sandi and Biscuit) from Leader Dogs for the Blind in Michigan. These two wonderfully trained dogs allowed her an opportunity to cherish Christian fellowship which she was able to safely enjoy as well as a more independent and active life.
Charlene was preceded in death by two brothers, Lonnie Johnson and Donnie Johnson, two sisters, Lois Marie James and Barbara Christie, a daughter, Lois May Bolls Mosser.
She is survived by her sister Jackie Wiswell of Dumas, Texas, a daughter Anna Izell Bolls of Amarillo, Texas, five grandchildren, William Drerup, III, Jean Luc Drerup, Brandi Mosser, Andrew Mosser, and Nathaniel Mosser. Three great-grandchildren, Austin Flores, Jason Drerup, and Ava Muir.
She will be greatly missed by those she left behind.
Charlene, I love you and will miss you and our chats.
I will miss your laugh.
You lived your life for Jesus.
I know you are with him right now.
Charlene I know you are with Jesus.
I will miss our chats and your laugh so much.
I love you always.
Your life was lived for Jesus.
Until we meet again.
I will miss you dearly, Aunt Charlene. Chatting with you was a highlight of my day. I am thinking of you and your family.
