Charlotte Kay Pierson, 80, of Amarillo, TX passed away on January 1, 2022.

A visitation will be held from 4-6 pm Tuesday, January 4, 2022. At Boxwell Brothers, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

She was born in Denver, Colorado to Mary Lou and Earl Leo Kirkwood.

Charlotte grew up in Richland, Washington and graduated from Richland High School in 1960. In Richland she met Jim Pierson while he was serving in the army and they then moved to Amarillo, Texas. Charlotte married Jim in 1960. They had two children, James and Roberta.

Charlotte most enjoyed her family and quilting. She created dozens of quilts and cross-stich pieces for her children and grandchildren over the years. She also enjoyed helping others, being involved in her church, talking on the phone, traveling to see her sisters, and much more.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Lou and Earl Leo; her husband, Jim Pierson; and her sister, Bonnie Byron.

Charlotte is survived by her son, James Pierson and wife Lisa of Fresno, California; daughter, Roberta Howard and husband Greg of Dalhart, TX; grandchildren, Melissa Howard of Houston, TX, Brett Howard, wife Morgan, and their daughter Sloan, of Dalhart, TX, Stephanie Pierson of Clovis, NM, and Cory Pierson and fiancée Megan Moore of Texline, TX; sisters, Roberta Lattin of Richland, WA, and Barbara Hunt of Bella Vista, AR; as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends.

A service celebrating Charlotte’s life will be at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Amarillo, Texas at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 5, 2022, with Rev Bill Ivins officiating. Burial will follow at the Lawn Haven Cemetery in Clovis, NM at 2:00 p.m. (MST).

  1. My father B. R. Russell would like to send his condolences to the family. We all will remember Aunt Charlotte with love and kindness. I still have some pieces of wood cut to make pumpkin, cat, rabbit and wagon etc. She was very talented in doing her crafts. Sorry we can not be at her service but we will be thinking of all you guys.
