
LaVonne “Vonnie” Roberta Wilkerson, 88, of Amarillo, TX passed away on May 22, 2021.
Heaven gained a resident in Vonnie Wilkerson on May 22, 2021. She was born to Elmer and Goldie Gallagher on July 10, 1932, in Westerville, Nebraska.
She graduated high school in 1949 from Broken Bow High School in Nebraska and married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Dick, the following year. They had three children Mike, Rick, and Lori.
Vonnie owned and operated her own business, LaVonne’s Beauty Salon, until Dick’s career led the family from Broken Bow. For the next many years, while their children grew up and went their own ways, Vonnie and Dick relocated several times eventually retiring in Amarillo in 1997 to be close to their children and grandchildren.
Vonnie was always an active member of her community and made friends wherever she lived.
Her family was her pride and joy, she made every family get-together and holiday full of special memories with her laughter and love that will long be remembered.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Dick; her parents; sisters, Arleta Tabor and Luella Sweeney; and son-in-law, George Morris.
She is survived by her children, Dr. Michael (Kristy) Wilkerson of Wichita, Kansas, Rick Wilkerson of Denver, Colorado, and Lori Morris of Amarillo, Texas; grandchildren: Lindsey (Seth) Williams, Dr. Jamie (Nick) Ramos, both of Amarillo, Brad Wilkerson of Wichita, Kansas, Emily and Mary Kate Wilkerson of Denver, Colorado, Mackenzie Wilkerson of Omaha, Nebraska and Jake Morris of Amarillo; and great-grandchildren: Stone and Sydney Williams and Allison, Peter and Michael Ramos of Amarillo.
Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at 10:00 am at The Local Wedge, 3314 Olsen St. Suite B.
The family wishes to thank the staff of BSA Hospice of the Southwest for their extraordinary care and special friend Sherry Wilkerson who was always there to offer her friendship and help.
