Donald “Don” Eugene Fine, 88, of Amarillo, TX died on Saturday, May 22, 2021.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at First Baptist Church Amarillo, with Corky Holland and Danny Mize officiating.
Don was born on September 27, 1932, in Ibex, Texas to Arch and Thelma Fine. He graduated from Borger High School in 1951. After graduation, he served in the United States Air Force.
On June 19, 1958, he married Patsy Ruth Nance in Borger, Texas. They lived in Borger until 1991 when they moved to Amarillo.
He worked for the U.S. Postal Service and was an active member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. Don enjoyed his retirement as a golf marshal and volunteering at BSA Hospice of the Southwest. He enjoyed being outside, seeing people and serving them. He also loved volunteering at the Shriner’s Children’s Clinics. Don and Pat were members of First Baptist Church Amarillo and enjoyed watching their family and grandchildren grow there.
He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife Patsy and daughter Donna Votaw; his sisters Betty Schirlls, Shirley Coffee, and Pauline Pittman.
Survivors include his daughter Susan and husband Shawn Riley of Amarillo and their daughters Caroline Riley of Fort Worth and Georgia Riley of Amarillo; and three grandsons Ricky Votaw, Rowdy Votaw and family, and Rusty Votaw and family all of Amarillo.
The family would like to thank the staff of NWTH SICU and BSA Hospice of the Southwest for the exceptional care they provided to Don.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital, ATTN: Donations, 2222 Welborn Street, Dallas, Texas 75219.
Viewing will be available from 8:00 A.M. – 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.
