Dwight was born on March 15, 1951 to Bertha Lorene and Kelles Winford Garrison of Amarillo, Texas. He was baptized in 1963 at West Amarillo Christian Church and spent his entire life grounded in the Texas Panhandle. He was educated at Coronado Elementary, Austin Jr. High, graduated from the downtown Amarillo High School in 1969, and attended West Teas State University. Like his father, Dwight worked as a projectionist at the Esquire and Paramount Theaters showing movies like The Sound of Music and 2001: A Space Odyssey. Later, Dwight followed his life-long love of golf and enjoyed working at Comanche Trail Golf Course for over 15 years.
Dwight loved spending time with his daughter, Ferron, and his other family and friends especially celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas and playing golf. He treasured watching 8mm home movies that captured a childhood of roller skating, bike riding, snow days, fishing, tap dancing, first days of school, family gatherings and Beatlemania. Dwight enjoyed board games and competitions of all kinds, and he was an avid sports fan. He also valued the natural beauty of the area from the canyon landscapes to the seasonal migration of geese.
Dwight is survived by his daughter Ferron Renee Garrison of McKinney, Texas, brother Kenny Garrison and his wife Gena of Richardson and Sunday Canyon, Texas, their daughter Kelles Suzanne Garrison of Colorado, and their son William Harley Garrison and his wife Kristin of Texas.
