Fred Donald Atler, 73, of Amarillo, TX, passed away on December 13, 2021.

Memorial gathering  will be held at 5:00 PM, Monday, December 27, 2021, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount.

Fred was born in Albuquerque, NM, on July 17, 1948, to Fernando F. Atler and Lillian Chavez.

Our Dad was a caring, loving, and generous man. He was our Hero. Our Dad loved to cook for his family, He made the BEST salsa hands down.He had a sense of humor that was unmatched.  He enjoyed coaching us when we were younger and played Kid’s Inc. He also enjoyed watching the Celtics Win!! He enjoyed hunting and fishing also.

He was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, a brother David(Davy) and sisters Elizabeth and Mabel.

He is survived by his son Scott and daughters Karline(Lee) and Cheryl all of Amarillo. Grandchildren : Bridgett(Ryan) and Jayme of Houston,Tx, Geoffrey of Amarillo and Adrian(Samantha) of Springdale, AR. Great grandchildren: Gabriella of Amarillo and Jaxson, McKenna and Avery all of Houston, TX. A sister Julie(Stan) of Fishkill, NY and many nieces and nephews.

  1. I was so proud that my younger brother Jay had Fred for a friend. He meant everything to Jay and became his friend that helped him out so much. He taught Jay how to make salsa and many many other things but most of the friendship was what meant so much to Jay. We lost a good ‘un.

  2. Ferdie (my Fideo), I’m so glad we had the relationship we had! Not as uncle and niece, but a great friendship! The laughs we shared, our conversations about cooking, life and family! You were very special to me. I love you and I will miss you.
