M. (Pat) Patricio Montoya, 79, of Amarillo, TX, passed on to our Lord June 21, 2021.

A rosary service will be held at 10:00 A.M.,  Friday, June 25, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mosquero, New Mexico, followed by mass with Father Christopher Martinez at 11:00 A.M.

He is survived by his beautiful wife Linda Montoya of 40+years, his 5 children, Cheryl and Steve Copeland, Ronald R. Montoya, Judith and Shawn Etter, Maria McDaniel, and Sonia and Gary Steel; many grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Pauline, Tony and Josie Montoya, Philip and Emma Montoya, Martha Rivera, Jo Hanna, and Joe Tantillo; and too many darn nephews and nieces to

mention whom he loved unconditionally.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan De Dios and Lucy Montoya; his brothers and sisters, Sabina Montoya, Ida Salas, Matilda Montoya, Lynne Avila, Eloy Montoya, Martha Lorraine Montoya, and Mary Lou Montoya.

At the tender age of 18, Pat began his career for U.S. Postal Service where he sorted the mail on an old train between Cheyenne and Salt Lake City. During his 32 years in the postal service, he made his way up to postmaster and retired in 1992.

Pat could not stay retired long, so he owned and operated a successful music store that he built by sheer will and determination. In addition to the music store, Pat built five beautiful houses which stand to this day as a testament to his love of building things with his own hands. When he retired from the music business, he worked for Walmart, making some of the most amazing bread and desserts for the wonderful people of Amarillo. Pat was proud of the number of repeat customers who would only show during his shift, and he would come home with a huge smile and good stories. Pat was always helpful to his neighbors, and friends, especially to his best friend, Roger Wilcox.
