Michael Thomas Mays, 55, of Amarillo, Texas died on July 14, 2021. 

Memorial services will be at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 27, 2021, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Michael was born in San Antonio, TX on August 25, 1965, to Dona and Sam Mays. He moved with his family in February of 1966 to Amarillo, TX. 

Michael had a Ph.D. in making people feel welcomed and loved. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Sam Mays in September of 2019; and his brother, Mark Mays in April of 2017. 

Survivors include his mother, Dona Mays; aunt, Peggy Barker, of Waxahachie, TX; and many cousins in the San Antonio area. 

Memorials in his honor should be made to Heal the City, 609 S. Carolina Street, Amarillo, Texas 79106.

  1. Michael you are still sorely missed as if it just happened yesterday. You and I had some great times here in Houston, your home for so many years. You brightened many of our days here — your Houston family loved you dearly!! You made us all laugh so hard, I swear you’re the funniest guy I’ve ever known. Such a huge heart too. See you up there one day, dear dear friend.
