be held at Lake Meredith National Recreation Area on Saturday.  Arrangements are under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Amarillo.

Randy was born in Phillips, Texas on August 5, 1943.  He deeply enjoyed his childhood in the Texas panhandle and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1961.  While at Amarillo High School he was a member of the Continental Singing Group and a defensive power on the legendary “Bum Phillips” Sandstorm football teams of the late 1950’s and early 1960’s.  He followed Coach Phillips to El Paso, Texas to join the Miner football team at Texas Western University in 1962.  His life was strongly influenced by Coach Phillips and he lived by one of Coach Phillips famous quotes, “You fail all of the time, but you are not a failure until you blame someone else.”  Randy demonstrated resilience throughout his life, based on many lessons he learned from Dick Bivens Football Stadium.

Following his time in El Paso, Randy joined the United States Marines Corps and actively served during the Vietnam War, broke horses in North Texas and played his hand in Los Angeles, California.  The core of his soul, however, was only at rest when he was engaged with Mother Ocean.  Randy traveled as young man to the Binimi, Bahamas and caught the “Fever.”  He would describe his “Fever” as his passion for sailing in any body of water.  Randy competed in countless Top of Texas Yacht Club Regattas at Lake Meredith, skippered sailboats in the U.S. and British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean Sea and was the captain of his own ship on many excursions in the Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean and beyond.  Following his retirement from a 30 year career on the Santa Fe Railroad, Randy purchased a sailboat in Long Beach California, named it “Fever” and sailed solo from Seabrook, Texas back to where it all started in the Bahamas.

With seas in his veins and a life marked by a maiden and final voyage to the Bahamas, Randy was uniquely committed and defined by his role as a father.  He was stern, yet gentle and emblematic of a “Mother Bear” to both of his sons Michael and Matthew Webb.  He taught kindness, independence and a work ethic in a way not typical for his time.  He created deep memories through his music, rugged style, stories and unwavering loyalty to his two sons.

Some may believe you only get one chance to make a first impression, but Randy got two.  He married his childhood friend Mariwyn Webb near the age of 50.  Their 23 year marriage was marked by travel, longtime friends and a passion for life that kept them young.  Randy was preceded in death by Mariwyn in 2016.

Randy is survived by three sons of sons of a sailor (i.e., grandsons) Nicholas Webb (Lubbock), Roman Webb (Lubbock) and Christian Webb (Austin).  He also has three princess granddaughters Victoria Webb (Lubbock), Ava Webb (Cypress, Texas) and Gabrielle Webb (Cypress, Texas).

Randy is also survived by his loving sister Gale Hasselbach and her husband Bill (Eagle, Colorado).  He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Dorothy Haynes and W.O. Webb.  The legacies of Randy Webb are his two sons.  Matthew Webb (Lubbock) and Michael Webb (Cypress), but he would say the best things that ever happened to either of his two boys were their wives, Cynthia Webb (Lubbock) and Angel Webb (Cypress, Texas).  Safe harbors and smooth sailing!
