Richard Allen Ornelas, 63, of Amarillo, TX passed away on December 12, 2021.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 18, 2021, in the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Dr. G. A. Roach officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Richard was born in Santa Barbara, CA on October 5, 1958, to Lillian and Rosendo Ornelas.
When Richard was a small child the family moved to Amarillo, Texas and it was here where Richard lived until his death. Richard was our family’s biggest supporter. Richard was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rosendo Ornelas; his mother, Lillian Estrada; his brothers, Russell V Ornelas, Raymond P Ornelas; and his sister, Rachel M Briones.
Survivors include his daughter, Ashley F. Griffin of Amarillo, Texas; his son, Isaiah G. Conway of Amarillo, Texas; his two granddaughters, Bentleigh Griffin and Remadeigh Griffin, both of Amarillo, Texas; his oldest brother, Michael D. Ornelas of Amarillo, Texas; his baby sister, Jennifer L. Soto of Vail, Arizona; one of his dearest friends and mother to his son, Sara A. Conway of Amarillo, Texas; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends throughout the States.

Richard, it’s been a long time since u were in my life. I remember my childhood with u in it. You were my step father for about 10 years. You were always good to us and I will always remember that. Sorry I didn’t know u in my adult years but God puts people into our lives for a reason. Rest easy I will forever cherish the memories of my childhood 🤍 with u in it.
Richard was a great friend. Will miss our watching The Cowboys. Rest in Peace buddy.
My brother was a true brother, look up the definition and you will see his name. He watched over us when we were little and continued into our adult life. Thank you Richard for being you.
