  1. Roy was a good husband, father to his daughter, stepfather to my daughters, and Papo to his grandchildren. He loved all of them so much, and enjoyed watching them grow and learn, and being part of their lives, as much as possible, even when that meant short rides on his wheelchair round the living room.

He loved life, especially out here on our little piece of heaven. He was always outside working hard to keep the place looking good, or building something to surprise me with. I remember one Mother’s Day, I came home from work at the hospital tired as could be. He insisted I go out back with him. He had put together a 70 foot round pen for me to work with my horse! Wow! That was just one of the ways he showed me how much he loved me.

Roy was active with me in the Camp Fire program, when Jaime was young. He would create colored wood shavings for the Art Program or make all the pieces to make insect “houses” for hundreds of kids at summer camp. He even surprised everyone at Safari themed camp one year by appearing as a Witch Doctor in full African regalia. No one could guess who it was!

Fishing and camping was another of our family joys. I remember many trips to Quartz Mountain, New Mexico, or Colorado to tent camp and then RV camp as we got older. Most times, the whole family came or one of the grandkids came along. Roy taught Jaime, Addison, and Adrian how to fish. I recall the time he was sitting on a little fishing stool and a skunk walked right between his legs! Haha! He stopped fishing at that spot.

Roy never met a stranger. He would talk to everyone he met and made friends everywhere he went. He was kind and sincere, happy and God-fearing.

He definitely believed in salvation through Jesus Christ. I know Roy is there, in heaven, enjoying reunion with his family and friends and all the best dogs and cats and horses that went before him. And he’s probably up there fishing!

All my love to you My Dear.
    Your wife,
    Arleen
